Reporting and publication terms
These rules apply to voluntary photos, live captures and short recordings submitted without an account. Every submission is moderated before it can become public.
Rights to submitted material
You must have created the material or otherwise have sufficient permission to submit it. By submitting, you grant UAPLocations a non-exclusive licence to store, reproduce, resize, transcode, display and archive the submitted material for operating and documenting the service. You retain your rights and may not submit material that infringes another person’s rights.
Photos, video and temporary originals
The incoming file is processed on the server. Verification information and a cryptographic hash may be read or calculated before optimization. The normal stored copy is then reduced in size: images are re-encoded and recordings are transcoded to a web-friendly format. The temporary heavy upload is not intended to be retained as the normal archive copy.
Technical observation and file metadata
A live report may include capture time, location and GPS accuracy, device orientation, camera information exposed by the browser, selected image point, a short orientation track for a recording, and a snapshot of labels visible in the scanner. An uploaded camera photo may contain EXIF such as capture time, camera/lens information and, if present, GPS or image direction. Missing metadata lowers verification value but does not automatically block submission.
Privacy and location
No user account, name or e-mail address is required by the reporting form. Exact coordinates used for moderation are not published at full precision; approved map coordinates are reduced in precision. Do not intentionally submit faces, vehicle plates, private documents or other unnecessary information about identifiable people.
Moderation and scientific caution
Submission does not guarantee publication. Approved reports are labelled COMMUNITY REPORT · UNVERIFIED. Aircraft, satellite, star or planet labels are technical aids only. A missing match does not prove that an object is anomalous, unexplained or extraterrestrial.
Abuse prevention
The application can keep a keyed hash of the connecting IP address and limited browser information to enforce rate limits, defend against bots and investigate abuse. Standard hosting/server logs can exist independently of this application. Automated or malicious submissions may be rejected or deleted.
Deletion and administration
Rejected submissions can be moved to the administrator trash and permanently deleted together with their stored media. The administrator can also remove an approved community report from public view. These controls do not affect official-source records.
